1. Platanias Anchorage- Skiathos Island  

Skiathos Island is one of the most popular sailing destinations in the world, and if you’re looking for a safe anchorage, then Platanias is your best bet.  

Located just around the corner from Skiathos town, this well-protected bay offers plenty of shelter during the summer meltemi but is exposed to southerly winds (avoid autumn).

Quaint tavernas and cafes are also available close by and are ideal places to grab a bite to eat or relax with a beer after a long day out on the water. 

Even if you encounter many boats, you can sail southwest to the island of Tsougria. There you will find smaller and quieter anchorages of Sporades Islands with the help of Coast View.

2. Agios Ioannis anchorage- Skopelos island 

Agios Ioannis anchorage on Skopelos Island is a sailor’s paradise. This stunning anchorage makes an ideal stopover even during the windiest days with its crystal-clear water, and interesting vegetation. Its close proximity to Skopelos town ensures easy access to supplies, restaurants, and charming boutiques. 

The icon-filled Greek Orthodox Church of Saint John sits proudly on the waterfront, providing some extra serenity for weary boaties. If you want a more active experience, there are many snorkeling and water sports locations, as well as nearby hiking trails leading to beautiful views.

3. Tzortzi Bay- Alonnisos Island 

Tzortzi Bay on the island of Alonnisos is quite simply one of the best anchorages around Sporades Islands, making it an ideal destination for boaters. The sheltered bay boasts crystal clear water, fascinating local wildlife, as well as white sandy beaches and dramatic sea inlets.

4. St.Peter anchorage – Kyra Panagia Islet 

The islet of Kyra Panagia, located northeast of Alonissos, is famous for its two safe, natural bays: St. Peter to the southwest and Planet to the north. Without a doubt, this picturesque islet is a renowned destination for visitors seeking a tranquil escape, and stunning views of the Aegean Sea.

Agios Petros (St. Peter) is an impressive anchorage known for its crystal clear waters, sheltered bays and breathtaking views of the coast. It is well protected from northerly winds and is affected only by westerly and southwesterly winds. Entering the wide entrance, which is shielded by the small island of Fagrou, the large bay opens in front of you. Within it are four smaller bays that lead to stunning pebbled beaches.

5. Kolimpada anchorage- Skyros Island
